We Need Your Help to Monitor Crime in our Neighborhood

There are two more chances this year to become certified as a Volunteer in Patrol. These are the people you see driving around your neighborhood with the yellow lights. This is a completely non confrontational role where you just call in anything suspicious and help keep an eye out for the neighborhood. Crime in our neighborhood is in down because of the fantastic volunteers. You pick when you want to go, but you must first complete the safety class. You even get to tour the 911 call center and see how are city emergency system works. This fun class is presented by our local police officers. Please send an email to crimecrusher@hotmail.com to receive an application for the class.

You can either complete the class in one Saturday, or divided among three nights.

Dec. 12, 13, 15 (M, T, TH) 7 – 9 p.m. NE Division (9915 E NW Hwy)

DEAD BIRDS, DEADLY DISEASE?

This is a reminder to report dead blue jays to the City of Dallas. They are tracking unexplained deaths of these birds (i.e. no visiblesigns of trauma) to help determine which neighborhoods need to havetesting of mosquitoes for the West Nile Virus. In order to test a dead bird for West Nile, the health department mustpick up the bird within hours of its death....which is kind of hard todo since the staff only works until 4:00 each day and there aren'tthat many employees available to do this. However, even if the staffcannot pick-up the bird in a timely manner to test it, they still arerecording and tracking the blue jay deaths.Call 3-1-1 or the Health Department.
